We'd also like to Thank River Bluffs Audubon Society for
allowing us to co-host a Special program at Birds-I-View on
International Bird Conservation on Saturday, March 1st! We
were honored to have Fito Steiner
, from Honduras, as well as
a representative from the AmericanBird Conservancy, and
Brad Jacobs from Missouri Department of Conservation, ( all
pictured above) come to our store to inform us about   the
wonderful project going on near Pico Bonito National Park in
Honduras. Many bird species that we enjoy in Missouri winter
in Central & South America. Find out how you can hep protect
their wintering grounds
by purchasing gorgeous prints like the ones held by Fito,
David, and Brad in this photo (above right). Come by

"Concentrating on Cardinals!"
We had a great time at this seminar ( always one of our
favorites!) Once again we had lots of great door prizes, good
food from the "Old Brick House Deli", and a fun and educational
presentation from Steve on Cardinals. Steve's presentation
included:
  • distinguishing between adult cardinals and juveniles
  • recognizing & providing Cardinal nesting habitat
  • Courtship & parenting characteristics
  • food & feeder preferences
  • Plus MUCH MORE!

Critter Cafe  & Cavity Nesting Songbirds Seminars!
A special Thanks to Janelle Schulte for presenting the "Critter
Cafe" portion of our program ( making your own Suet and Seed
Cakes for the Birds). She did a wonderful job! And of course,
Steve really enjoyed presenting the portion on Cavity Nesting
Songbirds and helping everyone learn more about how to attract
and care for Bluebirds , Chickadees, Tree Swallows, Tufted
Titmice, Carolina Wrens, woodpeckers, and more!
Janelle Schulte ( aka our "Martha Stewart of the Birds"!) demonstrates
making one of the many homemade bird food recipes presented in the
"Critter Cafe" recipe list .   
Our Critter Cafe and "Cavity-nester" Seminars were held 2/ 23- 2/26/07 at
Birds-I-View.

Many beautiful songbirds, like Summer Tanagers, Orioles,
Cedar Waxwings, and a variety of colorful warblers are common visitors to mid-Missouri
yards, yet rarely visit seed feeders. Steve's  presentation showed how to see  these gorgeous
non-seed eating birds out
your window!
Regina presented lots of information on Ruby -throated hummingbird "behavior", as well as
data on favorite hummer plants, garden design, and even information on "unusual"
hummingbirds that have visited Missouri.
As always, we had Refreshments and Door Prizes at every Seminar Program Time.
Each attendee received a Free “Seminar Packet” filled with literature, GREAT SEMINAR
COUPONS, and a free gift.

Saturday, October 11th, 10-6: The Great Bird Feeder Trade-In Day!!!. Bring us your old bird feeder and we will give you a 20% discount
on any new bird feeder in the store!
 Birds-I-View will repair and refurbish your old feeder and donate it to a local school ( Ask us how to
get your favorite school on the list of feeder -recipients!). Please remember the feeders are being donated to encourage kids to watch
birds…we therefore reserve the right to dub any trade-in “beyond repair”!
Please do not drop off trade-in feeders on any other day at
Birds-I-View. This event is for Saturday, October 11th ONLY and is only for
trading in feeders ( please don’t just drop off feeders with
out trading-in).
Sunday, October 12th: "The Big Sit”!!! (a fun tail-gate party for birders!) Join us anytime from dawn to dark at Memorial Park to watch
birds from our official “Big Sit” birding circle. Birds-I-View is donating $$ to the new Memorial Park Bird Garden for each bird species
spotted during the Big Sit! Come help out and have fun. See Steve & Regina at Birds-I-View for more details.
